What makes it custom.

A store insole comes in a few sizes and fits roughly. A custom orthotic is shaped from a model of one person’s foot, so every pair is different.

Made for the shoes you wear most.

Bring those shoes to your appointment. The style is picked to suit them, whether that’s work boots, runners, loafers or heels, and we build the pair to fit inside.

It starts with a model of your foot.

At the clinic, they take an impression or a scan of your foot. We make a model from it, then make the shell over that model by hand.

Then we finish it by hand.

A technician trims the shell to fit your shoe, adds anything the clinic asked for and fits the top cover.

A style for every kind of shoe.

Each style changes the thickness, length and shape of the pair to suit the shoe it goes in.

Questions

How do I get a pair?

Book a visit with a practitioner who prescribes orthotics. They look at your feet, take an impression and send us the order. You pick up the finished pair at their clinic.

Can I buy directly from you?

No. We only take orders from clinics, because the pair is built from the impression and notes your clinic sends. If you’d like a pair made here, ask your clinic to order from Doctor’s Choice.

How is this different from an insole from the store?

A store insole is made in set sizes for anyone. A custom pair is made from your own foot and the notes from your appointment, and it’s built to fit the shoes you named.

How long does it take?

Turnaround is 7 business days once we have everything from your clinic. Your clinic will let you know when it’s ready to pick up.

Are custom orthotics covered by insurance?

It depends on your plan. Many extended health plans ask for a prescription and a receipt from the clinic. Check with your insurer before your appointment.

Do you make orthotics for children?

Yes. Children’s pairs are smaller and shaped for kids’ shoes. Ask your child’s practitioner.

What if my pair needs adjusting?

Tell your clinic. Within 30 days of getting your pair, they can send it back to us for a rework at no cost.

What happens when the top cover wears out?

Your clinic can send the pair back to us. We re-cover and refurbish pairs we’ve made, so you don’t always need a new pair.
